G. Rodney Wolford
Chief Executive Officer

Rod Wolford has more than 35 years of wide-ranging experience in the healthcare industry, serving in leadership roles for healthcare providers, suppliers, consulting organizations and associations.

Mr. Wolford most recently served as Chairman and CEO of ForHealth Technologies, a venture-backed startup based in Daytona Beach, Florida. Prior to joining ForHealth, he was Chairman and CEO of Sterling Diagnostic Imaging, a worldwide manufacturer of X-ray film and imaging systems. Over his career, he has served as CEO of three major hospital systems: Legacy Healthcare System in Portland, Oregon; Norton Healthcare System in Louisville, Kentucky; and California Healthcare System in San Francisco, California.

Mr. Wolford has served on numerous Boards of Directors of both corporations and professional associations. He currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Essent Healthcare in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Institute of Safe Medication Practices in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Most recently he served as Chairman of the Board of ProVation Medical and as a Director of Image Guided Neurologics. He was a Founding Member of American Healthcare Systems, served as Chairman of the Healthcare Forum and is a former Director of Bellarmine College in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a frequent lecturer and author of numerous articles on healthcare issues.

Mr. Wolford, a certified public accountant, received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and a master's in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.


C. Timothy Gary
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Tim Gary is an accomplished business leader who has been actively involved in managing and operating Gordian for the last several years. Mr. Gary joined BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the parent company of Gordian, in 1999 as Senior Counsel for Government Relations. He subsequently held positions as Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, and Chief Compliance Officer for Government Programs.

Mr. Gary became Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Gordian in 2005. In 2006, he was appointed to the Board of Directors for Volunteer State Health Plan, Inc., a wholly owned, for-profit subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. In 2007, he was named Vice President and General Counsel for the health plan.

Before joining BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Mr. Gary served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee, General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and finally as Assistant Commissioner and General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Personnel.

Mr. Gary received his bachelor's degree from Belmont University. He received a doctor of jurisprudence from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law and his master's in business administration from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management.


Roger W. Reed, BSN, RN, FNP, PA
Executive Vice President for Market Operations

Roger Reed has more than 30 years experience in the healthcare industry and is a nationally recognized leader and strategist in health promotion and wellness. A registered nurse, family nurse practitioner and physician's assistant, Mr. Reed was author and project director of two W.K. Kellogg Foundation studies that are considered benchmarks in the field of health promotion. The studies, "Health Promotion Service - Evaluation and Impact Study" (1985) and "Health Promotion Service - Evaluation and Impact Study" (1990), evaluated the effectiveness and cost-benefit of BlueCross and BlueShield of Indiana's employee health promotion program over a period of 10 years.

Prior to joining Gordian in 1998, Mr. Reed was a partner in SLR Ventures Inc., a healthcare venture company that founded five successful healthcare-related companies during a span of seven years. His previous experience includes family practice, geriatrics, substance abuse treatment, health promotion management and research, healthcare administration and healthcare network development.

Mr. Reed is a frequent speaker at national healthcare industry events. His research has been published in the American Journal of Health Promotion, Nursing Times, Fitness in Business, The Journal of Family Practice, The Personnel Journal, The Journal of Occupational Medicine, Business and Health and Corporate Commentary.


Geoff Alexander
Chief Science Officer

Geoff Alexander is a pioneer in the health risk assessment field. In the 1980s, he and his partners created one of the first health risk assessments, the "Healthier People" HRA, working with the Centers for Disease Control and the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center at Emory University. Mr. Alexander created the risk calculation engine and worked with the CDC epidemiologists to translate the work of 200 research scientists into an implemental set of risk algorithms.

Mr. Alexander has been shepherding the creation of population health analyses (PHAs) and other health assessments ever since, including customized assessments for the U.S. Army, the Indian Health Service, IBM, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Digital Equipment Corporation, Texas Utilities and many others. As Gordian's Chief Science Officer, Mr. Alexander oversees the development of new content for all of Gordian's stock PHAs, as well as all of the custom health assessments Gordian creates for customers.

As a co-founder, partner and software developer of Eris Associates (later acquired by Gordian), he played an integral role in the creation of the first rendition of the proprietary survey development toolbox now known by Gordian as GEM.

Mr. Alexander was a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Prospective Medicine, and worked with other members of the Board to create the SPM Handbook of Health Assessments, which includes two chapters written by Mr. Alexander.


Adam Long, Ph.D.
Vice President, Research and Informatics

Dr. Adam Long is a highly regarded thought leader in the industry and brings years of statistical and research experience to the Gordian team. He has published numerous articles in journals and national publications, and is a frequent presenter at industry conferences. His most recent articles have appeared in Disease Management, the American Journal of Health Promotion, and the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, as well as other empirical, peer-reviewed research in the field of psychology.

As Vice President of Research and Informatics at Gordian, Dr. Long conducts Retrospective Claims Analyses (RCAs) and ROI analyses. He assists in development of new measurement and analytical techniques, including procedures for assessing work productivity and corporate culture. Additionally, Dr. Long performs customized empirical research for clients, and advises and assists the Customer Care and Sales teams with management reporting.

Dr. Long was most recently Research Consultant to Health Research Insights and Research Associate at Vanderbilt University and Owen Graduate School of Management. Dr. Long received his Ph.D. in social psychology from Vanderbilt University, and his dissertation was named the American Psychological Association's "Best Dissertation on a Topic Relevant to Community Psychology." Dr. Long is a guest lecturer at Vanderbilt and has spoken at various conferences, including the Disease Management Leadership Forum and the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists.


Tim Wade, MBA, CPHIMS
Vice President, Information Technology

Tim Wade is an experienced and innovative senior technology executive who leads Gordian's technology division as Vice President, Information Technology. He is a skilled technical application developer and problem solver and has provided technical solutions for a wide range of industries.

Mr. Wade joined Gordian in 2000 and has managed the technology solutions driving health risk assessments, health coaching, process management, medical claims analysis, and client and vendor IT integration. He continually identifies areas for improvement and enhancement, develops project timelines, and directs various outsourced components of Gordian's business. Mr. Wade works with management to closely integrate wellness services with internal software and databases and also works with clients and vendors for product, service, data integration and procedural requirements.

Previously with Everest Technologies, Mr. Wade worked with various healthcare companies to architect and develop new applications, as well as create integrated applications leveraging existing software and infrastructure. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management concentrating in management of information systems from Tennessee Technological University and a master's in business administration from New York Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and holds the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems (CPHIMS) credential.


Bridgit M. Mitchell, DrPH
Vice President, Continental Health Promotion (a Gordian subsidiary)

Dr. Bridgit Mitchell is an experienced leader and researcher in the health industry with a focus on worksite health promotion. Of special interest to Dr. Mitchell is targeting higher-risk populations at the worksite and making wellness opportunities appealing and readily available to them.

As Vice President of Gordian's Continental Health Promotion subsidiary, Dr. Mitchell oversees product development activities for worksite locations. She currently oversees worksite wellness contracts serving more than 165,000 employees. Her team creates programs, materials and online opportunities that keep health and behavior change on employees' minds. She leads evaluation projects that measure the results of employee participation in these health promotion activities. Her strengths include program design, implementation and evaluation, as well as building systems and relationships to grow the programs.

Dr. Mitchell's research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the International Journal of Consumer Studies and Educational Research. She earned her doctorate in public health and master's degree in public health from Loma Linda University School of Public Health in San Bernardino, California.


Steven R. Nelson
Vice President of Health Promotion, Continental Health Promotion (a Gordian subsidiary)

Steve Nelson's many years of experience in the health and fitness field have provided him with an extensive knowledge of how to design and implement effective wellness programs. As Vice President of Health Promotion, Mr. Nelson oversees operations for Gordian's Virginia-based subsidiary, Continental Health Promotion, including program and product development, direct marketing and on-site fitness center implementation and management.

With an advanced degree in physical education/exercise physiology and a YMCA Physical Fitness Specialist certification, Mr. Nelson spent several years developing and overseeing wellness programs and supervising staff for the YMCA. He served as an Executive Fitness Instructor and was later named Vice President of Operations, a position that entailed the development and evaluation of wellness programs for corporate clients, as well as the hiring and training of staff.

Mr. Nelson is especially knowledgeable in the subjects of nutrition, back care, smoking cessation and stress management. He earned a bachelor's degree in physical education at Springfield College, Springfield, Massachusetts, as well as a master's degree in physical education/exercise physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
